About Us

"Creating Effective Citizens...One Student At A Time."

The Oklahoma Council for the Social Studies is the state affiliate of the
National Council for the Social Studies.

Our goal is to promote social studies education in the state of Oklahoma by supporting educators and students in order to improve the instruction of social studies and to foster recognition of the social studies as central to a democratic society. Our organization is governed by elected officers and Board members who operate according to our Constitution.

All members are welcome to attend regular Board meetings and run for office of our professional organization. Please feel free to join us in planning upcoming events and opportunities for our members and every social studies teacher of Oklahoma!
